Pet Safe Fertilizers

Pets can be tough on our lawn and plants, and to keep them looking wonderful we have to give them a little bit of help.  For a long time it was always so stressful to think of fertilizing the lawn or garden and having to keep the pets away from certain areas for days at a time.  Now companies are stepping up to the plate on helping us with fertilizers that won’t harm our pets or children. In fact, if you are worried about your pet wellness, we recommend you to learn about the many ways cbd can help your pet at All Woman Stalk website.

The reason fertilizers can be harmful is that they add chemicals for a quick transition from dull to glorious.  Unfortunately, the chemicals often have bad long term effects on our vegetation.  So, they aren’t really good for the plants they’re supposed to be helping.  Organic is the way to go, and it’s getting easier to take that route.  If you’re not up for composting on your own, there are plenty of places that offer natural fertilizer.  Zamzows, of course, has a full line of lawn care that is completely organic, made specifically for Idaho soils, and won’t harm pets or children (although your shoes might be in danger of staining).  There are also some Scotts products that are pet safe as well, although make sure you check, because not all of them are.  They say right on the front of the bag if they’re safe.  You can find Scotts products in lots of places, including Lowe’s and Home Depot.

If you prefer going with a different brand such as natural commercial fertilizer, the things you have to look out for will be right on the packaging.  In the ingredients section, if it says “inert ingredients” it’s a no go.  These ingredients can include carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, and chloromethane; all carcinogens.  If there is 2,4D on the manufacturer’s label it is something to be avoided, it is a highly toxic substance.  On plant fertilizers if the ingredients include “dust” don’t buy the product; “dust” can include asbestos and other carcinogens.
